India economic boom at the turn of the millennium has given the subcontinent a more and more preminent role in the geopolitical and economic global scenario. Nevertheless this process rests on problematic bases, as fast urbanization, abuse or bad use of natural resourses, lack of infrastructures, privatization of services and public spaces, economic growth without civil rights, increase of social disequalities.
Growth rates are currently declining, productivity gains are reducing and high expectations are downsizing. These phenomena contribute to opening new, contradictory and ambiguous perspectives both in society and in the landscape.
